Teenager Helps Rescue Terrified Stray Pit Bull
Homeless teenagers are helping to save abandoned and stray dogs in Detroit by contacting the Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue when they see them. Armand and Mickey are two of these of these homeless teenagers that help rescue these dogs.
These kids are found living on the streets and often are not in school however they are animal lovers.
Josh of the Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue says, “It’s a huge thing for them to do ’cause with all the influences around here they don’t have to be giving the dogs to us or any other rescue. They could be doing so much worse things to these dogs: selling them to be used as bait dogs. Instead of just giving them away to do the right thing. When they could be doing so much worst.”
In the video below, Mikey, a sixteen year old boy, helps the Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue rescue a one year old pit bull mommy who has been living in an abandoned house.
This rescue was filmed by World Animal Awareness Society or WA2S.
While walking a member of the rescue group spots a dog inside an abandoned house and tips off the rest of the group. They immediately go inside the house and find a one year old pit bull mommy. Theresa approaches this pit bull mommy and offers her some food. She then attempts to put a leash around this dog’s neck but she is so scared she wouldn’t let Theresa do it. However with patience Theresa eventually manages to get the leash on this pit bull mommy and they take her to the truck and give her some food.
Mikey calls her “Red Oak”.
The cameraman asks Mickey, “Is this something you want to continue to do”?
“Oh yea,” he replies and then quickly adds, “Don’t bully the breed.”
As great as it is that Mikey and Armand really believe in rescuing abandoned and stray dogs in Detroit, just imagine what it would be like if thousands of more children all across America would help save abandoned and stray dogs instead of ignoring and abusing them?
The schools in Detroit have started a program called The Good Pet Guardian Lesson Plans which is an designed to teach 4th grade students in Detroit how they can save an abandoned dog’s life.
