Definitely would recommend, views at top are incredible. Really great trail to do. Looks like a volcanic eruption. The hike is relatively short at (4.6 mi roundtrip) and is absolutely stunning with one of the best views in Colorado, so it’s understandable why the trail is so popular.

Go to sleep and wake up with stunning views of the Gore Range. Have fun and enjoy!

A highly recommended campsite is roughly 1.0km from the trailhead on the right-hand side of the road.

Between the kaleidoscope of colors on the two hillsides, the panoramic views, and the interesting rock formations, the hike to Shrine Ridge definitely garners five stars.

Definitely a must see place to visit. Just a note: bathrooms are closed at the trailhead. a really good hike in Vail, we had a great family walk there on our getaway from the city, The Davos Trail follows a dirt service road. We took a bit of a wrong turn and saw meadow views but then backtracked and made it to the peak! But mostly, at the top, I listened to the silence! The Indian Paint brush bloomed in yellow, red, pink, and peach and blanketed the meadow along with bistort and lupine.

A ski trip's not complete without some hot tub time, right? Follow this easy road 2.3 miles to just past the indistinct Shrine Pass summit and forest boundary.

Neither of us had ever smelled it, as usually the surrounding pines mask any aroma.

Shrine Ridge Trail gradually hikes through lush pine meadows, passing two small ponds, to Shrine Ridge. This beautiful hike outside of Vail is a steady incline till you reach the top of shine pass giving you incredible 360 views and a stunning view of the Mount Holy Cross. Easy to get to; just get off at Vail Pass exit and continue up packed dirt road that any vehicle can handle.

Shrine Mountain is a narrow ridge that sits high on Vail Pass and is one of the most popular hikes in the area. Definitely take the ridge to the south all the way to the end of the trail. Shrine Ridge was named for its sweeping view of Mt. Elevation Gain: 961 Feet Last Summer, we were on the hunt for a hike with big views and wildflowers but was also easy enough for Clay’s entire family to do. Do not attempt this without 4 wheel drive and high clearance.

Easy to Use
Download the app. It was so amazing, I cried. Hike is reasonable with some elevation gain, mostly in the sun. Eventually, you’ll start along a gentle path that climbs to the top of Shrine Ridge. The sky made it feel like we on another hike completely. Shriner Ridge hit the mark. Sorry, there are no tours or activities available to book online for the date(s) you selected. Easy to follow trail. Follow the gravel driveway leading towards Shrine Mountain Inn and the pine forest surrounding it.

Shrine Mountain was named for its stunning view of the Mt. Post was not sent - check your email addresses! Once you’re done exploring the ridge, follow the trail back through the pine meadows you walked up through to finish your hike! Which is ideal. The moderate trail ascends through subalpine terrain that affords lovely views of surrounding peaks, that only improve at the summit. The trail leads back to the lot around a gate. I’m 55+ out of shape and a flatlander and found the hike not too difficult. I recommend going this way first.

Where: White River National Forrest, outside Vail No data used during tour. I had to stop myself from snapping photos, as to not bore Tanya to death, despite us both acting like children and laying down in them! Easy to get to the trailhead at about 10,700'.

Follow for 3.6km to a parking lot on the left. Shrine Ridge Trail: Travel east from Vail on I-70 to Exit 190 for Vail Pass. Though dirt, Shrine Pass Road from I-70 is easily navigable to the dirt parking lot complete with pit toilets.

Continue along the trail as you walk parallel to the ridge. the wildflowers are also really nice along the hike! Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. Tanya and I arrived just before 8am on a Thursday and there were only a few other cars. Y'all know I love a good one pice so I jumped at the opportunity to partner with Andie Swim to show off their incredibly well-made swimsuits. Well worth the hike for the beautiful vistas and flora.

Near the top, there is a “Y” in the trail. Shrine Ridge Trail is located off Shrine Pass Road in the White River National Forest near Vail, Colorado. We got to the top and headed left across the ridge about a mile then went to the end of the trail at rocky point. Create Recommended Route or Excellent trail with panoramic views of the Gore Range, Tenmile Range, and the Sawatch Range. The air was fresh and lots of shades to rest too. Shrine Mountain is the peak directly to your right (if facing south/the Sawatch Range).

This is an especially good trail for hikers looking for good views from an easier trail. Tanya remarked, “This reminds of the Sound of Music.”  Once again, the hills were blanketed in wildflowers, this time mostly purple and yellow.

The Shrine Ridge trail begins at Shrine Pass Road #709 and ends at Shrine Mountain Ridge. Plan was to go to Booth Falls but there was no parking at the trailhead and overflow parking was closed.
You’ll get incredible views, considering it’s such a short hike.
As a result, we packed up and explored the other short trail in this area.

Of all the hikes we've done during our stay this was by far my favorite. The second half had great views. After about 1.3 miles the trail turns west heading through pine forest before the steepest part of the climb to the saddle to the west of you. At this point following the trail to the right takes hikers to a view of really cool rock formations.

Follow the trail southwest as it climbs through pine-studded meadows. By the time we began our descent, the clouds rolled in and rain was on the horizon. The ridge summit is a short 2-mile hike from the parking area at Shrine Pass and winds through marshy meadows, pine forests, burn areas, and rocky outcroppings. it's about a 3 hour round trip hike. Immediately, sweeping views of the meadows/valley below spill out before you. Perfect timing to take off around 10:00am. On the way down, approximately 1/3 to 1/2 of the way, there is a signpost without a sign on the left and a trail that angles up. Summer wildflowers, birds and sweeping views reward the hiker. Regardless, we followed the rolling terrain into the meadow and across the tundra to the next “high point”. You’ll get incredible views, considering it’s such a short hike.
