Caring Vet Eats Breakfast In Kennel With Terrified Pit Bull
Dr. Andy Mathis, a veterinarian in Elberton, Georgia received a call late one Friday night from a woman who found a stray dog on a dirt road in the county that was in bad shape. He told her to bring her in.
The woman arrived at the Granite Hills Animal Care with a gray pit bull in awful condition. This pit bull was emaciated, starved, dehydrated, hypothermic, anemic and had a vaginal prolapse. Dr. Mathis didn’t know what to do so he asked his friends on Facebook. He wrote “I can put her to sleep or try to save her.” They responded, “Try.” They even gave her a name because as they said, “We hate the thought of any pet being put to sleep, or passing away without a name” so they gave her the name Graycie Claire spelled “gray” for her coloring and a double name because she is Southern and all that.
Dr. Mathis knew Graycie would need more help than he could give her on a Friday night in the small town of Elberton, Georgia so he contacted the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia and they were able to get her temperature back up, rehydrate her and reduce her prolapse but her blood levels were extremely low and she still needed a lot of care.
Dr. Mathis brought Graycie back to the clinic where she continued to improve every day however she was so scared she wouldn’t eat unless he left the room.
In this touching video below Dr. Mathis gets in the kennel with Graycie and eats breakfast to encourage her to eat. This kind and caring man even eats out of a metal dog bowl to show Graycie they are equals.
Watch this video to see if Graycie will eat breakfast with him and her reaction to his kind gesture.
