Making A Difference For A Pit Bull Named Zoe
In this video The Chako Pit Rescue volunteers make a life-and-death difference for one skinny, injured sweet pit bull named Zoe.
In 2014 a family in South Sacramento spotted a pit bull roaming the streets who had been hit by a car.
The people known to have owned her and bred her for puppies refused to admit they ever owned her.
She was emaciated when the family found her.
They took her in, fed her and kept her warm but were not able to keep her so they took her to Sacramento’s Front Street Animal Shelter.
The animal shelter regarded her as “unadoptable” and a “medical failure”.
They contacted Chako Pit Bull Rescue to re-evaluate her and see if she could be saved.
Dawn Capp Of Chako Pit Bull Rescue visited the shelter to meet this pit bull.
When she saw how gentle she was and the constant wagging of her tail, she knew she could be saved.
They took her to the home of veteran fosters Greg and Mary for much needed tender lovng care.
She was named Zoe while she was in Mary and Greg’s home.
While there she was given the love and nourishment she needed and received the best possible medical care.
Zoe underwent surgery to repair her hip that was done in collabration with the shelter and the U.C. Davis Veterinary school.
After surgery she went back to Greg and Mary’s for more tender loving care and rehabilitation.
When she was strong enough, she started going to adoption events.
Every time she met someone she dispelled misconceived myths people have about pit bulls by her gentle and friendly nature.
On New Years Eve in 2014, Zoe moved into her permanent forever home with the Bonner Family and Broc, her new big brother who was also rescued from Chako Pit Bull Rescue.
Watch this video to see Zoe’s amazing story.
In addition to stealing the hearts of everyone who met her, Zoe influenced people to reconsider their prejudice against pit bulls.
