Pit Bull Who’d Been Chained Up For Years Finally Knows What It’s Like To Be A Puppy
This video is about a pit bull named Violet who had been chained for years and now finally knows what it’s like to be a puppy.
When Violet was located in December of 2016 she was only 2 years old and had probably spent her whole life on a chain.
A woman was driving by a deserted property in Miguel County, New Mexico when she spotted Violet.
This was a place where it was against the law to keep dogs on a chain unless someone was present.
This woman phoned the Animal Welfare Coalition of Northeastern New Mexico.
The county sheriff’s department rescued Violet.
This is when they found out her owner was in jail on unrelated charges.
NMDOg, an organization that deals with chained dogs took her to vet.
Violet’s skin was extremely sunburned and she had flystrike, a condition where maggots eat away at the dog’s flesh.
Naturally Violet had fear issues that needed to be dealt with but she started to come around and trust humans.
Her rescuers had to work slowly with her and be gentle because if they moved their hands too suddenly Violet would duck and flinch.
However with the help of a blanket and a squeaky raccoon toy she became more at ease in her new environment.
Then they found out she loved going on walks.
There’s a big world out there and she was just beginning to find out it.
Violent had missed out on her puppyhood and now it was time to show her what it was all about.
Violet needs to be spayed and still has more healing to do but she is now on her way to living a normal dog’s life.
