Three Nuns Give A Pit Bull A New Home
Sisters Veronica Mendez, Virginia Johnson, and Alice Goldsmith are nuns who live together in Nyack, NY. It broke their hearts when Katie their beloved dog who had lived with them for eight years lost her life to cancer.. They decided they were going to save a dog’s life that would otherwise be euthanized if not rescued to honor Katie’s memory.
So a week after Katie passed away these three nuns went to Hi Tor Animal Care Center In Pomona, NY with one intention to rescue a dog on death row. One that that no one else wanted. It was there they met Remy, a nine year old pit bull who had been waiting for three long months for someone to give her a loving forever home but because she was a pit bull and because of her age, it looked like she would never leave the shelter. That was until the three nuns arrived.
“I purposely wanted a dog no one else wanted,” said Sister Veronica. “I wanted to bring a dog home that might get euthanized if we didn’t take her.”
When Sister Veronica saw the sign stating Remy, the pit bull was nine years old, she said, ‘This is the one. No one is going to want this one.”
The nuns connected immediately with Remy. Remy was so gentle and loving.
Remy is now living with the three nuns, brings a lot of joy into their home, has soft dog beds in multiple rooms so that she can lie down wherever she chooses, has a tree filled backyard to run and play in, a lot of toys to play with, and gets a lot of loving from the three nuns.
Remy is now living her golden years just the way she deserves. “We wanted to give her the best three or four years she has left,” Sister Veronica told Today.
This was definitely a match made in heaven.
